On september 11 1893, a monk from india achieved an unprecedented success both in terms of representing the glory of indian culture ,spirituality and also in terms of establishing himself firmly as a monk.
As still swami Vivekananda himself had no identity and had been known to people except other disciples of Bhagwan Ramkrishna.There were another section of the people who didnt accept him as a monk as during those times only some section of society where considered to become a saint.During such a phase of life it was a tremendous pressure on this young monk to be identified himself and also to achieve a recognition and other support for his further accomplishments which we can see in the form of "Ramkrishna mission".
Its been 125th year of swamiji's speech in world religious Parliament held in Chicago,and is obviously the moment of pride to each and every citizen of this country especially to those who have been inspired by him and his works and also to those who have transformed their lives in "vivekananda's way".
The story of his ,reaching to chicago itself was astonishing and will really makes one think,what kind of love and concern one can have towards his fellow countrymens and the urge to awaken them.
When swamiji was a wanderer he visited nook and corner of the country and analysed the lives of people the kind of sorrows,pains, agonies the differences,the baised nature, exploitations among his own mens swamiji was totally devasted and was in grief at the very situation of the country.The idea of going to chicago became firm when he reached kanyakumari and sat at the bank of the sea for 3 days without food,recalling all the suffering and ignorance of the people of the country then wiping at the same.
This urge of uplifting the situation and enlightening the people took this young hero towards his goal.
The overall view of swamiji's speech which were in 6 different sessions can be sum up as the "re-definition"of the religion rather than mugging up few of the ideas from the same vedanta.He redefined the same vedanta which is easy and correctly understood by the commons.
As swamiji believed "Its better to paly football than to procrastinate in reading bhagvadgita if you cant understand and bring it in your life".
Swamiji always gave importance to collaboration of the mind and the body which is actually essential for achieving greater feats.
He also said"we want isalmic body and vedantic mind",for achieving both physical and intellactual stability.
It also makes us think what actually made swami Vivekananda renowed in very 2 minutes of all the sessions which he made. what do you think he become so much popular compared to all other renowed preachers across world ?
What made the very 5 words of swamiji an electrifying impression on the gathering?
Its all because of his Chastity and continenec(Brahmacharya)which gave him all the attention and popularity,and also the purity of mind,swamiji did not allow a single bad thought across his mind even in his dreams.
Swamiji himself has said that
"Neither money pays,nor name nor fame its character that can cleave through adamantine walls of difficulties"
This is how a man who lived for just 39 years 5 months and 24 days made an immortal influence on the people of the world with the strength of his character and words which awakened the sleeping lion in the hearts of the people for achieving the greater deeds which the motherland was awaiting for all these years.
Its bounded duty on our path to remember such a hero who sacrificed all his comforts for redeeming the lives of thousands and thousands and making the rejuvenation of the land.
It will be a great respect to this monk if we atleast try to implement a single thought of his in our own lives so that the purpose of celebration is served.
